Why we started Corner Health

Lava’s story

I grew up inside my mom’s independent medical practice. She built it from the ground up, and that practice gave her the financial independence to raise my two sisters and me on her own. I learned what an independent practice is by watching hers: a provider who knows your name, has the time to listen, and the freedom to actually treat you. She’s been seeing some of the same patients for over 20 years.
When my mom started her practice, most of her colleagues were independent too. Over time, I watched many of those practices get acquired by hospitals and private equity. As they did, providers had less time with patients, and the personal relationship at the heart of healthcare began to disappear.

That’s why we started Corner Health. Our mission is to build the future of independent healthcare by helping clinicians own their practices and make healthcare feel personal again.

Anne’s story

Growing up, the person I trusted most was my childhood pediatrician, who owned her own practice. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of going to see her. I loved the sticker wall, and when I needed a shot she’d distract me with a funny story while I stared at the painting of an elephant on her wall.

What I remember most is how well she knew me. She remembered my dogs’ names and always asked about our latest adventures. She treated me like I was a real person.

For years after, I searched for that same connection but instead just felt like a burden when I was speaking with my medical providers. The practice owners at Corner Health remind me of my childhood pediatrician. They remember the details. They listen. And when providers have the freedom to focus on patients instead of paperwork, they build the kind of relationships people remember for a lifetime.

What it means for you

Every provider runs their own local practice and is held to the same standard. Here's what that changes about your care.

A real local provider, finally within reach

A practice down the street that takes your insurance and gives you real time. Corner Health handles the paperwork so your provider can focus on your care.

Time to actually be heard

Because your provider sees fewer patients a day, you get a longer visit, one where they read your chart, hears you out, and treats what’s actually going on.

One person who handles it all

The headache, the refill, the labs, the hormone question, all handled by the same person instead of a new face each time. About 4 in 10 of these visits would mean a referral somewhere else. Here, your provider takes care of them.
